2012 Illinois AEYC Election of Officers – Candidate Information


For the term of 2013-2014

Candidate for Treasurer- BARBARA WARMOTH

Barbara has been in the field of education since 1970 working in the public schools, as well as a not for profit child care program from 1978 – current where she is the Executive Director. Between 1975 and 1978 she worked with the local regional office of DCFS as a Child Advocate. Over the length of her career she has served on several advisory committees, served as adjunct faculty at Eastern Illinois University, has been an active member of the Spirit of Illinois AEYC for over twenty years, having served two terms as treasurer, and has held several offices on the Governing Board of Illinois AEYC (Secretary and Central East Vice President).

In addition, Barbara has been active in her church serving on its board as well as, Secretary of the board for approximately 15 years. She is also active in Epsilon Sigma Alpha, an international service organization, and served as Treasurer both for the state chapter as well as the multi-state regional organization.

Candidate for Northern Region VP- JENNIFER BROSNAHAN

My name is Jennifer Brosnahan. I am a family child care provider and president of mylocal affiliate in Joliet. My child care program was recently changed from multiple age groups toa school-age program in order to accommodate the changing needs of my family, business, and community.Working diligently with local organizations having similar advocacy efforts, I often visitlegislators with otherearly childhood professionals, even travelling to Springfield for lobby days and rallies. If elected, I would like to see more affiliatesvisiting legislators within the Northern Region,raising the tough questionspertaining to child care, early childhood education, nutrition, and more. Iwould be willing to attend such meetings with affiliate leaders in support of advocacy. I would also make myself available for the affiliates within my region to help with any issues that may arise and can attend board meetings if requested.

Candidate for Chicago Region VP- DEBRAH CLARK

Debrah Clark is an infant childcare center director who leads a team of dedicated childcare practitioners providing family services to teen parents, including parent education; parent and child play groups, and high quality, licensed childcare. Mrs. Clark is a qualified childcare director, educator, holds the certification of Family Life Educator and has a Master’s Degree in Parenting Education and Support from DePaul University. Mrs. Clark is no stranger to the field of childcare having spent four years as an infant/toddler/two’s teacher and twelve years as a director. These roles taught her the importance of continuing education, patience and the necessity of accepting change through reflection. Prior to starting her career as a parenting educator and director, Mrs. Clark spent time working in the foster care system. Mrs. Clark is a board member of Chicago Metropolitan Association for the Education of Young Children, (CAEYC), Illinois AEYC, and serves on a variety of agency boards in the community in which she works. Mrs. Clark assists childcare and social service practitioners in using respectful, proactive and inclusive approaches in working with parents and young children.

Passionate about early childhood education, family inclusion and the possibility for positive social change, Mrs. Clark provides trainings for agencies, schools and early childhood associations. During her tenure with Joliet Township High School, the Infant Childcare Program was awarded the Children’s Champion Award through Voices for Illinois Children and National City Bank and an award for Child Abuse Prevention through the Department of Children and Family Services and Prevent Child Abuse Illinois. Her efforts to keep the Joliet Township Infant Childcare Center relevant and based in best practices have earned the program a graduation rate of approximately 80%. Mrs. Clark has presented locally and nationally and looks forward to all opportunities to facilitate learning for both her and all with whom she comes into contact.

Candidate for Central West VP- SUSAN MOORE

Currently work at The Salvation Army Headquarters in Peoria as Development Department Administrative Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator. Also, run a part time home day care. My home day care was opened in 1984 full time for 19 years. During that time I also worked at Rogys Gingerbread House for 9 months then returned back to home day care. I also worked at The Salvation Army Church as Kettle Coordinator/Director of their After School Program and Summer Day Carmp. I obtained an Associates Degree in Secretarial Administration in 1981, an Associates Degree in Child Development and Bachelor Degrees in Management and Business Administration.

I have two grown children and two small grandchildren. I am a Sunday School Teacher, Sunbeam Leader, Nursery Worker, Women’s Ministry Secretary all at The Salvation Army Church in Peoria. I am a member of CIDCO (Central Illinois Day Care Organization), a member of WHAT (Women Having Amazing Times), and a member of NOVA (Network of Volunteer Administrators). I am currently the Treasurer and the Public Policy Chair of Heart of Illinois AEYC.

Candidate for NAEYC Affiliate Council Representative-TERESE QUARINO

Terese Quarino is a QRS Specialist with Illinois Action For Children. She has worked as QRS Specialist since 2007, when the QRS program began. She worked at Children’s Home + Aid as a training Coordinator and QRS Specialist for three years and also worked at Children’s World for six years as a Center Director. Her experience includes working for School District 57 as the Director of the Before and After School Program. She has also worked for the YMCA dance department and children’s sport classes. She is also an Illinois Trainer Network Trainer through INCCRRA. Terese has her Associate in Arts Degree from William Rainey Harper College and her Applied Behavioral Science Degree from National-Louis University. Terese is currently a member of the GOAEYC Board and is a Member at Large. She has held the position of President and Treasure. She has also been a member of the Illinois AEYC Board and has held the position of Northern Region Vice President and Public Policy Chair. Terese is currently sharing the position of Affiliate Delegate for Illinois AEYC.
