You are invited to join Susan Friedman, Senior Director of Publishing & Content Development at NAEYC and the Illinois EAYC Play Chapter for an interactive spring event to discuss the journey of the pedagogy of play to playful, joyful learning. This virtual event is open to all, NAEYC/ILAEYC membership is not required

Description: A recent report from the National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Math emphasized the importance of choosing a high-quality preschool curriculum. Equally important is how the curriculum is implemented, the need for content and play, child-initiated and teacher-directed learning, and associated PD in areas where educators need growth and support. Educators are often pulled in conflicting directions, emphasizing teacher-led instruction or hands-on learning, depending on the trend. Preschoolers and kindergarteners need both! This event highlights classroom examples showing Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP – a position statement and book from NAEYC) in action. DAP provides a framework that connects play to learning standards and fosters engaged joyful, effective learning for all children.
